When is Jenna "Clara" Coleman's contract up? Okay, two questions. And whom do we pay not to renew it?

Unlike every other Companion ever and I am definitely including Rose, this one has not grown on me. The new ep did not make me like her any more.

Peter Capaldi was friggin' brilliant, given what he had to work with.

Edited to make a minor correction to syntax and to add "Your mileage, of course, may vary."

I've read one essay about how wonderful it was and one essay about how betrayed a fan of the new show found herself feeling.

I quite enjoyed it save for two things:

1. Why does Companion Distress!Face have to be the impetus to finding another way? Especially the (to me) Mary Sue Perfect Companion?

2. As Christopher Eccleston is quite literally the man John Hurt's Doctor becomes, who thought it was a good idea NOT to drive increasingly large dump trucks full of money to his door to secure his participation? And if money/availability wasn't the issue and the man was purposefully left out for some other reason...what possible reason could that have been?

Bonus:
Billy Piper as the Moment. She knocked that out of the park.
PETER CAPALDI EYES.

One last kvetch:
Does this mean we need to renumber the new Doctors?

I suspect a rather broad spectrum of fanfic readers look in on this LJ from time to time, so I appeal you all: Help Me, Flist; You're My Only Hope (outside of google or AO3, which can take up the better part of a weekend for this sort of thing.)

I'm caught up on my Who viewing through Angels Take Manhattan
cut for minor, jingoistic spoiler )
and need to roll that truck back to Power of Three, where U.N.I.T. is re-introduced. U.N.I.T. is meant to protect us from as much alien incursion as we can handle without the Doctor, right? To the best of y'all's knowledge, is there now or has there ever been a fan fictional encounter where the missions of U.N.I.T. and Stargate Command have been organized so as not to step all over each other?

edited to add: annnnd for some reason all of my LJ cuts relocated themselves. Fixing.

According to what I've heard about "This Is Your Brain On Music" by Daniel J. Levitin, current pop music directed at teens should be just so much noise to me. Ergo, my current obsession with Lady Gaga and Katy Perry confounds me.

Howsomever, I'm sharing a few fanmade music vids that have fed my functional addiction to Doctor Who geekery and my weird fascination with teen dream pop tarts.

Beneath a cut to save the sensibilities of those who AREN'T obsessing about pop music )
And this is what happens when you search "favorite fandom here" "favorite song title or artist here" with no other tags. It all went pear-shaped when I tried adding "fanvid" and such.

See, for the prior post, I went looking for the vid from the DW wrap party where aspersions are cast on the purity of Davies's professionalism vis a vis Tovey. Some day, I'll learn to disable the vid suggestions in youtube, because one can really burn a lot of time there.
WHO DA MAN? yeah, never say that again )

I'm trying to figure out why I'm only seeing this now, as it will become clear it was made some time ago:

Doctor Who Nostalgia

As the tumblr caption says...cool beyond words.

But at least I have taste!

BBCAmerica is running marathon of 9th Doctor, first season, and I just finished "The Doctor Dances."

Is there any Doctor/Rose/Jack triosmut out there?
justalurkr: (Default)
Yes, I've been wasting time on YouTube.com again. ;) All of these vids should be considered full frontal spoilers, as BBC standards and practices deny us full frontal anything else.

Cut because some of the vid comments contain spoilers: )
