Birthday is over
Oct. 3rd, 2012 08:42 amI'm back to being 42, now. In case anyone was wondering.
Highs and lows of my last day in my 50s:
1. Back to Weight Watchers for the first time since July 4, and am three whole pounds short of my original start weight. So, I didn't gain it all back. High or low?
2. Saw Pitch Perfect. High: still hysterically funny with actual Girl Power moments. Low: yeah, the majority of the best parts are in the trailer.
3. Could not find a V-slot bench pin for my nefarious metalworking purposes. High: will save money and cultivate maturity and patience while waiting on mail order. Low: Don't WANT to cultivate maturity and patience, frak it.
4. Low: sweated bullets trying to figure out which very expensive restaurant in which to celebrate my birthday due to not in the mood for anything but...High: PANDA EXPRESS BEIJING BEEF. Had that, saved money, went home happy.
Birthday presents to myself over the past two weeks:
Asus Nexus 7 Android Tablet on sale at Office Max for less than what amazon.com has, how often does that happen?
Nine face texturing hammer
New bench block
Craft wire multi mandrel
Copper, nickel silver and brass metal sheet for stock
Dapping block
And a month ago, with a 12 week delivery for customization:
a new recliner in a nice dark red, the link to which I cannot find in a reasonable amount of time.
You know you're old when you buy yourself clothes for your birthday:
cute boots
I think this is the skirt I got
Though it might be this one
Books that are totally research for NaNoWriMo and shouldn't really count as an orgy of spending:
The Faith Club
Varieties of Religious Experience (like to wikipedia, as I actually patronized a used book store)
The Sacred and the Profane
So, now that I've stress-eaten my way to within spitting distance of my original start weight and stress dented, well, dinged, actually, I was a good saver last year until I wasn't, my savings, I'm almost ready to be a responsible adult.
