Especially those of you who know canon pretty well? I have a rabid crossover plot bunny and am unfamiliar with some of the finer points of Watcher/Immortal etiquette.

1. As of Ransom of Richard Redstone, do we know if Methos and Richie Ryan had Watchers, and if so, who they were? Or was Joe just keeping an eye on the lot of MacCleod's charmed circle of friends?

2. If Sgt. Siler someone at the SGC were Immortal and Sgt. Harriman were his Watcher, what are the odds the existence of the SGC would come up at one of those Watcher poker parties Joe hosts from time to time? Is there any canon evidence for a Watcher breaking Top Secret clearance because they know the files are even topper secret?

3. Who thinks Teyla Emmagan's reaction to a Wraith presence closely resembles an Immortal sensing Presence?

4. Who thinks Richie Ryan would look totally hot in Air Force dress blues? :D

5. Methos v. Chaya: smart money is on...?

1. No Clue
2. OMG You aren't going to go there, are you? LOL!
3. First time it happened with Teal'c sensing a goa'uld I thought "Hey, that's just like Connor" (cause I wasn't watching the series at that time and Highlander is one of my favorite movies ever).
4. Me, totally. And imagining him as a pilot has me in a happy place (cause you know he's a hot shot and would HAVE to be in a 302...annnnnnd great. Now I've got an image of Richie flirting outrageously with Mitchell-his-commanding-officer. Thanks)
5. Methos. Cause he's hot.

1. Well, me neither, so I can't throw stones. :)

2. On second thought, given the amount of time Siler spends in the infirmary or otherwise hurting himself, I was thinking of turning it around: Walter's Immortal, Siler's his hapless tag-a-long. :D

3. Teyla even rolls her eyes and looks all crampy like some of the Immies. It's uncanny.

4. Well, Ritchie was actually on his way to Atlantis, but I could maybe arrange for a stopover at the SGC. ;)

5. And pinchable. One can never forget the upper hand unadulterated pinchability provides. Makes the travesty of Avatar just that much less believable.

1. It actually hurt my brain trying to think about it.

2. LMAO! I totally READ IT THAT WAY instead of the way you typed it in the post!

3. No, TPTB did not rip that off; it's an homage dahlink!

4. Hmmm. Could he have been there when Mitchell was? Say hello to the EX commanding officer? Casually mention it to Shep while they're doin' it? Oooooh. That's a preeeety image too.

5. I was thinking lickable, but that works too. (Hey, Avatar had Alpha-Danny and serious amounts of arm!pr0n. Which I am pretty sure wasn't the plot but it is about all I remember. ;) )

1. This does not even compare to the thorny issue I'm having with why Richie has a wild hare up his ass to take off for another galaxy, since it's really Methos who has the...yeah.

2. See? It's because it makes so muc more sense that way. To be honest, I can believe loose lips from Siler (heart broken over his wrench running off to Pegasus to be with the TartGate) long before I can believe it of Walter, Keeper of All Secrets.

3. TPTB can homage my ...oh, that's a little off topic. Sorry! :D

4. Well, the whole thing is going AU after Ransom and before the HL version of Avatar or Archangel or whichever stoopid ep travestorily disposed of Richie, so he'll have to have been in the armed services (or maybe a mercenary?) for a while. I'd make him a scientist, but he died the first time so young, he looks more convincing as a newish recruit than as a PhD. At first, I saw him as an Airman or maybe a Marine guard at the SGC whose squadron or platoon or whatever got deployed to Atlantis. I can put him there any time the muse sees fit, really.

5. Pinchable, lickable, gropable, nippable...the whole battalion of "-ables" (except, of course, ignorable) says "hey, how you doin'?" [pets Methos]

*face/palm*

Oh, that Avatar. SG-1 ep names I know by heart. Highlander? Not so much. D'OH!

Urg. It's been so long since I watched, so canon may elude me.

1. Go check out the Wikipedia articles for Riche and Methos. It lists Jesse Benoit (??-Apr 1808-??) and Timothy Wyatt (1996-??) as Watchers for Methos (though I'm pretty sure the first one wasn't aware he was Methos), and Mike Barrett (1994-1995) as Richie's Watcher. Richie became Immortal around 1994 and died ::sob:: in 1997, so there was some time near the end without a Watcher. One would assume Joe took over that duty, probably around the time Duncan and Richie parted ways for a while and hit the road.

There's also a list of all known Watchers and their subjects, which is interesting to peruse.

I'm pretty sure a lot of the stuff on Methos' page is from the books, and I don't really consider those true canon. Some of the info on both may from the books, or a passing mention in an episode, but I'm not sure which is which.

2. Joe bent the rules quite a lot, but I'd have trouble buying a Watcher in a top secret job because of the complication of getting the top secret clearance. Trying to keep one secret life separate from another secret life would be kinda difficult.

3. A wee bit.

4. ::thud::

5. Is that even a question? Chaya would be a pile of dust that wouldn't fill an ashtray.

1. I made it through most of Richie's entry the other day before my boss gave me the stink-eye eyes crossed.

2. I can actually see some K'Immie torturing it out of Siler or someone. Getting it back to Joe and Methos so they can encourage our boy Richie to take his daredevil act the hell out of their misery on the road is stumping me a bit.

3. It's not like we get to see enough of the character to form solid opinions of anything beyond the astounding physics of her wardrobe.

4. See why making this about more than Teh Hawt is such a hardship? Richie in uniform escorting a slouchy, Henley-wearing Methos into the elevator the SGC to meet the gang...

5. And the Others would hang around, glowing with applause. Oh, my, yes.

How about having the Watchers infiltrated by the Trust, or vice versa? It could even be spun that they infiltrate the Trust thinking it's a front for Immortals or something. Maybe they think Ba'al is immortal because they've seen him die, then see him again later. That would allow the Watchers to learn about the SGC and Atlantis, and Joe could then pass the info on to Our Heroes.

But that brings up why Our Heroes would want in to the SGC or Atlantis. There has to be some sort of McGuffin to make them want to take that risk. Maybe Methos knows of some old "very special thing for Immortals is hidden on Atlantis" myth but didn't think it was a real place until they find out about the SGC et al?

Richie could be the one chosen to go simply because he not only looks the youngest, but because he'd be the most comfortable with modern technology and the like and able to pick up a job in the USAF (not necessarily a pilot) easiest.

They'd also have less tinkering to do with his past, because he has a "real" paper trail in the right time period, though he'd be about 10 years older than what he looks, but he could still get away with that pretty easily.

Or...It's not too hard to sell Methos knowing everything, especially pertaining to safe, secret Holy Ground to use as refuge. The Stargate came up in 1928; events of the Stargate movie embarked from Cheyenne mountain during the run of Highlander, if I'm not mistaken.

It wouldn't require much abuse of canon at all for Methos in his undercover Watcher glory to have hacked any database pertaining to Cheyenne Mountain (which I believe turns up as Holy Ground in HL fanon, possibly real life) to find out what's down there should he ever need an emergency refuge.

It could be as simple as Richie needing a place to go to ground after Ransom (or whatever his last appearance before the Unspeakable Arc) and Methos contacting his old buddy Walter (possibly met under a different name in Korea in the 50s? The resemblance is uncanny) and asking for his buddy to get a place to stay. The whole thing goes HL AU before Archangel, and Richie doesn't even have to be in a uniform. He could be service staff or something.

I'd rather he had an excuse for dress blues, though. [sigh]

Off to work now.

I'm not grasping why Cheyenne Mountain would be Holy Ground. Former Indian burial ground?

Please stop mentioning Richie in dress blues. I keep hitting the floor in a rather unseemly manner.

Somebody swore to it in the author's notes of a SG1/HL crossover. To be honest, I never bothered to look it up.
