A word about Biblical prophecy
May. 29th, 2014 08:07 amIn this post, I alluded to Biblical prophecy being about 5000 years old. One of the most useful things about having a friend among the Jehovah's Witnesses is that they read and research the Bible more thoroughly than most. I blink at some of the conclusions they draw, but I absolutely trust their thoroughness.
Point being: I am advised that Biblical prophecy only goes back about 3500 years, not 5000.
Which I kind of knew at some point, but totally forgot. I believe my original line of reasoning was that according to literal interpretations of the Bible and some staggering math, the world as it was known to Biblical authors is five or six thousand years old, which still matched my understanding of the origins of patriarchy per Merlin Stone's When God Was a Woman and that book of myth stuff by Marija Gimbutas. (additional input from Monica Sjoo and Riane Eisler.)
So, that brings me back to the end time prophecies as written by the patriarchal types predict the end of patriarchy.
w00t!
