Shore Leave 30 had a panel called "Rodney McKay Gets No Respect" that consisted mainly of discussing the leadership qualities of Sam Carter and Whasisname Woolsey?

Clever or insulting: you be the judge.

Also, your favorite show: "Torchwood" or "Sarah Jane Adventures?" Um, what? Do I like porn or candy better? Well, it had the worst. Moderator. EVER, so I suppose I'm not too surprised. (Don't ever ignore me in favor of getting quickly to the spoilers and then...not get to the spoilers. BITCH.)

Engaged life is treating George Takei well if turning him into one of those people who render one's congratulatory smile fixed as they prose on about the planning...ceremony in September...honeymoon in South America...will Shatner show? OMG I'M SORRY I DON'T CARE.

The Hewlett siblings must not be missed if they are ever in your neighborhood as a dynamic duo of con appearance. OMG the set of "A Dog's Breakfast" must have been in dire need of Super Nanny! Waaay too much fun was being had.

Jewel Stait. Finger story. [wheeze] Couldn't. Breathe. And I was there at Dragon*Con the year it happened.

Oh, and were I still a nature-worshiping pagan? I'D TOTALLY RESIGN IN PROTEST. Due to weather delays all over the Eastern seaboard my flight, meant to leave at 7:50pm Sunday, left at 1:51am Monday, arriving in Atlanta either two and a half hours after MARTA stopped running or one and a half hours before it started running and long, long before or after every food place in the airport stopped/started serving except for...

I now worship at the Church of Atlanta Bread Company, or at least wave as I drive by on their major holidays, for being the only eatery open and serving breakfast (hot) and coffee (hotter.)

I stumbled into the apartment around 0630 this morning, showered without breaking any major bones or household items (miraculous,) and slept until half-noon, when I woke to the realization that a tall coffee has consequences, the went back to sleep until half-teatime. <--- as you can see, some portion of my being has decided to vacation in the UK with the porn and candy.

Was good to see my con buddies, of course; that was the main reason for heading out.

I've been going to Shore Leave for well over 15 years now and the dicks running this panel are pretty much entrenched where panels are concerned. Once upon a time, they were fun, reasonably nice guys but ever since they all landed spots on the SyFy Portal staff, they've become fanboy archetypes at best, arrogant pricks at worst.

For the record, I too thought the bait-and-switch was beyond lame. Of course you noticed how they thought it was hilarious. Jerks.

Oy

This was my first Shore Leave ever, and I was pretty much there to see my homegirls from prior cons and the Hewletts. I live in hope that someone more articulate and better connected in fandom harpoons these guys appropriately.

Honestly, I couldn't tell what they were supposed to be moderating. It seemed more about them spouting off stuff from Upon High, and maybe letting someone they knew from the audience ask something, but otherwise ignoring us.

I thought at first the Rodney panel having the rather ironic title was just a fluke with discussion going off on a tangent, but apparently not.

The con itself was fun, but methinks maybe they need to cut down on some of the "professional fans" running panels.

Could be

The Shore Leave staff is getting a little metaphorically inbred. Still, more good time had than otherwise.

Go see a medical professional soonest about that headache, young lady!

It happens to a lot of cons eventually. They use people familiar to them, because it's easier. They don't have to worry about someone inexperienced trying to run a panel. But I think a good solution would be to have a mix of someone with experience and someone without, or not as much. Though then you run the risk of the more experienced one overriding the less experienced.

Migraine's gone now. Well, other than the lovely hangover from meds. I think it got a bit more magnified than normal due to the plane flight home. And oh, just wait until you hear what happened when I got home. It's pricless. I plan to post about it today.

Especially at [livejournal.com profile] nialla42's "Slasher Hen Party," which included screenings of "Shelter" and "Third Man Out," a Donald Strachey mystery, both of which featured very good looking young men doing very good looking things. :D

It's possible I'm kvetching up there in reaction to the airport lag. I essetially slept through the rest of Monday, and expect to feel better after I get some breakfast and finish my current caffeine source. ;)

You should have gone to the Masquerade where something along those lines happened live on stage ;-)

With a side discussion about Weir as well. D'oh!

Um, what? Do I like porn or candy better?

I think I'm going to have to charge you a royalty fee. ;)

I enjoyed the impromptu 'Let's REALLY talk about Rodney' panel some of us decided to hold OUTSIDE IN THE HALL with ventilation and lack of irresponsible asshattery. And, oh MAN, the thought of the set on ADB... *giggles*

That's awesome that you were at Dragon*Con the year the finger story culminated! So cool!!
