Been a while since I posted
Jul. 7th, 2008 03:11 pmEvents have unfolded.
1. See this post about my elder cat, who had a good long run. I'd just as soon not sniffle like a little girl when I reply under both personalities, thank you all kindly.
2. Week long vacation to California to visit parents, which scored a trip to the movie Get Smart (which I quite liked) and 75c winnings on a dominoes tournament. (When will my dad learn that he's not the only one who plays better with $$ on the table? Mom scored 75c, also, but he stole it from her statehood quarter collection to pay her back. Men! I don't know if the sneak thievery or the assumption she wouldn't notice was worse. For the record, Mom required .5 of an eyeblink to notice.)
3. The aired-only-in-UK finale episodes of "Doctor Who" appeared as if by magic on my hard drive and I pretty much lost the ability to breathe for about an hour and a half. That, my friends, is fan service. That thing in the end right there. Fans of pretty much any persuasion could turn up their particular flavor of goggles and see exactly what they wanted to, unless they were being petty about it. ARE YOU HEARING THIS, BRIDGE? NOT A RESET BUTTON IN SIGHT, AND WE HAVE HAPPY SHIPPERS AND NOROMOS. Well, my fannish longing to strip one particular character and lick him all over, slowly, (or at least to seeone of his boyfriends do it) for his comment about where his mind went there for a second wasn't served, but it isn't as if RTD can work that many miracles.
Okay, I guess those spoilers could have been more oblique, but I didn't name names. Beware the probably a lot less oblique spoilers in the comments (should there be any) if people disagree with me. There was a certain plot device used that some find slightly lame, but which I glomped onto like a great big glomping thing.
