Okay, is it just me, or does McBrown have all the chemistry of a couple of noble gases?*

The lady portraying Katie Brown sure was giving it the old college try, and Hewlett grimaced toothily with the best of them, but by the end of the ep? I thought the most merciful thing would have been for Katie to join Kate in the great beyond of SG guest stars sacrificed for dramatic effect. It's even sweeps month! She coulda been a contender.

Also, am waiting for the Missing Scene Fic in which we find out how Ronon really convinced Sheppard about what they felt for each other...deep down inside. After all they've been through. And stuff. 0:)

See? My slash goggles weren't even set to McShep, and McBrown was still freakishly awkward to me. Ronon burned off more of my screen with Keller than Rodney and Katie.

Note to da Boyz @ Bridge: Yes, we all see that you're turning Carter into alt!Carter of the long, wheaten, married-to-O'Neill locks. WhatEVer. I have spare barf bags now, you can't touch me!

*All I remember about my three weeks in high school chemistry is that the "noble" gases are completely inert, and require the tortures of the damned to interact with anything else. Oh, and Bunsen burners suck, dude. They're evil and will not light.

I'm not even watching the show, but I've gotten the impression from various comments made that TPTB wanted to put McBrown in there to calm down all the Sam/Jack shippers who were afraid they'd try to play up the "chemistry" between McKay and Carter.

Personally, I don't really see all that much chemistry between those two, because while Hewlett can act rings around Tapping (and most of the cast, really), I don't usually like how TPTB write McKay whenever Carter is around. They revert to making him the "geek" and putting him in his geeky place, instead of of writing him as a man who's had three years worth of character development.

I'm pretty sure Katie will be back again this season, as well as the chick from Travelers. Please, oh, please, can't they write a female character who doesn't have romantic or family connections to a male character? Oh, wait, it's Bridge. Never mind.

Now that you mention it, there hasn't been nearly the McKay/Carter interaction I was dreading. They're in the same scene at least once or twice an ep, but there's no interaction any different from what Rodney and Elizabeth got up to. Sam has already given the impression she'll be going offworld a lot more than Elizabeth did, but everything she's done so far has been as Head of Atlantis, and not as All Knowing Source of Everything about Everyone (though that has peeked around the corners a little.)

In this case? I'm all for service to the USS Sam'n'Jack...as long as Jack stays docked elsewhere.

Actually, given what Jack became the last few seasons of SG-1? It's possible that only what Sam became would have him. Daniel and Teal'c have better taste.

Unbelievably enough, it's not just Bridge. I left off watching Boston Legal about the time you could account for every female character on the show by whether she'd slept with Alan or not, and which one had said no when the question came up, because it had come up between Alan and everything female.

All this while he and Denny were so. Very. Married. ;)
