We had a special guest star on Eureka tonight.

Teryl Rothery, looking great, guest starring in a story (science v. faith) that had a lot of potential. Two things threw me out:

1. Teryl plays a widow, married to...Daniel. At least the metal device she built to find the point that connects all the realities or planes of existence, while it whooshed a bit and glowed, wasn't a perfect circle.

2. Are we ever going to have a Stargate alum visit and have them not be a skeevy geek or the source of the problem? It sort of gives away the whole game.

Other than that, good show.

I had to laugh when she said her husband's name was Daniel. (damn it, Daniel--stop going all glowy). And then the multiverse 'stargate.'

I love science vs faith stories...in principle. Unfortunately this ep was like too many other shows in that it proposed that debate as the premise but then didn't really look too closely at it. I did like the preacher lady, tho.

Whenever she said something about "being with Daniel," I wanted to ask "why? Just stay where you are. He always comes back!"

It surprised me that they did a science v. faith, then didn't really go anywhere with it. I hope the writers didn't think their various love connections were more interesting.

He always comes back!

So true :-D

Ugh, yes, the love stories--the bane of so many shows. Personally I think it would've been more interesting to examine Kevin as a semi-Messianic figure. He did cure his mother with the laying on of hands after all and it would've fit so nicely with the science v faith theme. sigh. But that's just me.

At least they kept the Sheriff's atomic powered laundress out of it this week.

I have a feeling the writers think that too much exposition on Kevin will spoil whatever whacking great Artifact-related plot climax they're building up to. I'm also starting to get a really unfortunate 4400/Isabel vibe whenever they pull that plot thread into the pattern.
