Joe Mallozzi is the showrunner of Stargate:Atlantis?

I am so frakkin' out of here.

It certainly explains a lot of what I've been hearing.

Paul McGillion is out, Jewel Staite is in.

Torrie Higginson is Out, Amanda Tapping is in.

They are re-tooling a show I liked pretty much the way it was to look more like the show they just cancelled?

Why are these shows hitting the toilet around the fourth season? Could it be the invasion of the M&Ms?

All of this is in reaction to stuff seen at:

Joe Mallozzi's Blog, Jan 15

Reactions to his contempt for fans who question at Gateworld Forum:

Oh, and this just in:

My favorite is where he basically blames the lower ratings of Atlantis this season all on Sci-Fi channel's promotion.

He is such an incredible, egotistical tool.

Nothing is ever, ever his responsibility. Unless it's a good thing. Then all credit to Mallozzi!

There's a news item over at Gateworld about how he and Mulli are their "go-to guys" for SGA.

What we're saying here is that Stargate shows are allowed three good seasons, then M&M get them? And to hell with what anyone else thinks?

Wow. He just really, really wallows in all the attention, doesn't he? And calls attention to it too. I wonder how much time he spends blogging and reading about himself online vs. oh...writing scripts?

The fans fawning all over him (and sending him sekrit packages) aren't much better. "Look at ME! I'm best buds with The Man!".

Bah. The best decision I ever made was not to be involved with SGA. Even second hand, the effects are making me nauseous.

I started watching Atlantis with virtually no expectations, and was pleasantly surprised. I was a regular fan by the 2nd half of Season 1, and after a bump or two in the road, kind of rabid by the end of Season 2.

I am completely at a loss as to why anyone at Bridge or Sci Fi thinks this show needs to be "retooled" to the extent spoilers suggest.

This is exactly why I never got too involved with Atlantis. Sure, I may have missed some entertaining television, but I also missed *this*--Mallozzi/Cooper/et al sticking it to the fans *again*.

And all the Atlantis fans have my sympathy.

I'm wondering if some of the changes are at the insistence of Sci Fi, akin to their insistence that Vala show up again before the end of season nine, when TPTB had originally intended for her to return in season ten? Maybe they think they're saving money by cancelling SG-1, but moving part of it over to SGA?

I still wonder if they're being cagey about the reasons for Tori's reduction to recurring is because we'll see her for a few eps, then they'll write her out? They said that Ford would continue to be recurring, and we've seen him, what, two times in as many years?

They also defused early rumors of Carson's death by saying things leading some to conclude he wasn't "dead dead" but sci fi dead and able to reappear later on, and apparently they didn't go that route. They were probably wanting it to remain a shock surprise, but I think it will just make people hate it even more to have been lied to like that.

Joe's making it so very easy to stop watching anything in the Stargate franchise, isn't he?
