Am learning all about writing here.

Or something.

Bad!fan: I blew off a Firefly panel in favor of dinner. In my defense, Adam baldwin blew us off. "Professional commitments."

Somebody look up Debra Dixon's book about goal motivation and plot please. My blackberry isn't playing nicely with amazon.com.(Pout)

Also, I'm given to understand that medieval Christian heresy was different from medieval Islamic heresy. Can someone please post me a low graphic link on how? I have a nascent plot bunny.

I'm film festivaling now. :)

Debra Dixon's book is "Goal, Motivation and Conflict: The Building Blocks of Good Fiction." It was published in 1999, and Amazon has used copies listed starting at $97.40. And no, that's not a decimal in the wrong place. Don't see any used copies on Half.com, but I haven't looked elsewhere.

My recommendation (surprise!) is to check your local library, and if they don't have it, ask for it via ILL. That way you can see what it's all about and whether it's worth seeking out your own copy.

I need more specifics on the heresy question, but I think "Sea of Faith: Islam and Christianity in the Medieval Mediterranean World" by Stephen O'Shea would be a good book source.

For links, give these a try:

[blink] ILL sounds like an excellent short-term solution. Long-term? I may just rely on my three pages of notes.

I adore the Librarian Infogene. :D

Thanks!

Note: two heretics learn a valuable lesson in religious toleration; they also fight crime!

Yes, I'm going to bed soon.

You can also photocopy pages that you can use for later reference. I see 76 copies in WorldCat, but none in GA. Doesn't mean much, as not all libraries are listed with it.

To make it easier to search for, the ISBN is 0965437108.

Oh, and one of the subject headings is "Romance fiction -- Authorship."

Infogene? More like OCD. ;)

Here's a weird thing...

She had eight copies on sale at her seminar today, $20 per, cash only. It being late in the third day of Dragon*con, cash is a myth like unicorns or the moon being made of green cheese, or I'd have one.

I guess they could be ARCs.

I am further weirded out...

The book is available at the publisher's site for $19.95:

I do not understand the book business, except insofar as she's just Not Selling It through amazon.com. [shrug]

It's possible. Smaller publishers can't always afford to sell at Amazon and the like, so the copies that do filter out to other sites get priced as "collectible" even when they're not.

Who was the person talking about this book? The author or someone else?

She's a romance author (originally Loveswept, now paranormal) and is partner/CEO in a smallish Southern publishing company.
