SG-1 Cancelled, SGA renewed

All of their attention will now be on building and "improving" their only show. I can hardly stand it wait.

Yeah, I just posted the news to Gate Crashers and had similar thoughts. They've been splitting duties between the shows for the writers and producers, with crossover now and again. Now that everyone will merge into one production (unless some are let go), that means they have all their attention focused on Atlantis. Yay. It was doing quite well due to some divided attention (read: RCC wasn't focused on it).

Wright is the head honcho of SGA, with Cooper for SG1, so it will be interesting to see if there's any power struggles.

*Nods* - even though I'm not a great fan of SGA; I'd completely agree with you on that one. I've never been a great fan of RCC (has a lot to do with his perchant of killing off much loved characters in SG-1) so I fear for Atlantis.

Okay - I fear for Caldwell and Doc Beckett but I fear all the same;)

Does the showrunner of a cancelled production get to go play in the shiny new sandbox? Doesn't that cost money, paying multiple producers/showrunners?

I can't even imagine what "fresh, new" thing the worn-out production staff of SG-1 will want to to do with Atlantis.

As of last Friday's episode, the 'ship is already being prepared for its round-the-world cruise.

They've been playing in each other's sandboxes since Atlantis began. All of the producers were working on SG-1 before the split for Atlantis. I'd have to look at the credits, but I think all of them get credit on both shows.

But the question now is, will the lower budget of Atlantis be tweaked to have them all working full-time, or will something be cut? More than likely, the producers will be low on the list to get canned, but I think we can probably kiss any chance of new blood goodbye. It will become even more inbred, with all of the producers taking turns as writers and directors.
