X-MEN Last Stand

No plot spoilers in this post, but beware possible spoilers in the comments. They'll be hard for anyone who's seen the movie to keep to themselves.

First, OMG the SCRUFF. I have a weakness for scruffy, suffering men.

Second, if you are a slash fan (manslash, femslash, boyslash, grrlslash, geezerslash, for the love of Kepler freakin' gizmo slash) you must only see this movie in the company of other slash fen. I chewed the inside of my mouth up holding in the squee.

Beloved Slash Object #1: Maybe we need to his eyes say go to bed and fuck each other senseless but his voice says move on.

Slashblind MoviePal: What? What?

Me: Nuh-nuh-nothin'. [massive pulling self together effort]

It was a very...satisfying...installment in the franchise.

Third, not having seen spoilers, much came as a complete surprise, but as I've already seen on LJ, make sure you stay till the end of the credits. There is an extra there.

I will, of course, go see it (eventually)...but I will do so under HEAVY protest. After all, I'm still a little peeved that Steve Bacic got replaced as Dr. McCoy...and WHERE THE F*CK IS REMY???? Dudes, THE ONE CHARACTER I LOVE BEYOND ALL REASON in this fandom--has been ignored AGAIN.

I told another one of my flisters this too: I swear to all that is holy, if there is going to be another installment, I will kidnap the writer and director and force them at GUNPOINT to write Gambit in, damnit!!!

Yeah, Bacic would have gotten the paycheck, but you wouldn't have known it was he. Hank "Beast" McCoy looked exactly like my memory of the comic from the 80's and sounded nothing like "Frasier."

The movies are already laboring under mammoth casts. Gambit is a popular enough character to have starred in many miniseries, his own title and scored Rogue. The movie writers seem to have a very limited arc in mind for Marie/Rogue (and what the hell is up with her getting a name?) : sort of a daughter thing with Logan and definitely a ...hmmm. I'll let you watch the movie for her arc and form your own opinion of its effectiveness.

My original point: there's no way Gambit could have been wallpapered in favor of Logan and Bobby, so he's just Not There.

The crowded movie theatre was the only reason I wasn't screaming 'just fuck already!' at the screen. *g*

And the scenes between the Professor and Magneto? OMG so doing it!

Only Pyro and Bobby had what'd you'd call intimate onscreen contact. What were we to make of that fire and ice battle at the end? They looked almost reluctant to hurt each other.
