Did I think I would ever feel sorry for anyone in the Bush family. No, not even the women. They chose whom they married.

Listening to NPR discuss the New Hampshire primary this morning and play a snippet from JEB's last town hall before the voting, I thought back to when people were first declaring candidacy and felt a swell of pity for the man. Remember when the primaries were going to be a waltz to the coronations of Secretary Clinton and Governor Bush? Then we'd have a "scrappy" little election and find out whether the American people were still sufficiently sick of the Party of No's attitude to elect a woman? Or maybe still too sexist to care, and we'd have a three-name dynasty?

I actually feel sorry for JEB. I NEED A SHOWER NOW.

The "waltz to coronation" thing is what turned me off to both candidates right from the start.

I do feel kind of sorry for ¡Jeb!, since he had all the family and GOP establishment connections for everyone to assume he would have a clear shot. Even if Trump hadn't upset the GOP's applecart, I don't think he would have made it. He seems even more clueless than his brother, and I didn't think that was possible.

I've had the "dynasty" concerns with Clinton as well, because the GOP have even more ammunition against her than they ever did Obama due to her own baggage and her husband's. But to hear from feminist icons that there's a special place in hell for women who don't support women, intimating that I should vote for Clinton just because of her gender... well, I'll be enjoying that special place adjacent to people who talk in the theater, since the last time I checked, my uterus doesn't cast my vote.

You and bunches of other people, I think. Getting turned off by the "waltz to coronation," I mean.

The latest analysis I read about Secretary Clinton's loss in NH said not to blame her feminist allies...Hillary's always had a woman problem. We just don't like her, though I'm pretty sure the ongoing implication that we're meant to vote with our uteri doesn't help at all.

I've found many of Clinton's supporters are focused on having the first woman in office and are willing to overlook the baggage train she's got following her.

It would be a sort of double history making event if Democrats had the first black president followed by the first female president. But the cranky old white guy is making more sense to me, and I'm absolutely delighted that he's refused big money from PACs. I know he'd have the same challenges Obama had to making any real changes, if Congress decides to once again lockstep to fight against any change to the system.

Maybe Sander could pick a decent female VP nominee? Heaven knows it could only go up after the Palin debacle.

I'm too horrified that Trump keeps on going and going to feel bad for anyone.

I know, right?

HOWEVER. The South is next up. I don't think he's going to be able to wiggle out of discussing a position on abolishing abortion or gay marriage, and I don't see either of those ending well for him.

Plus, Trump is not exactly Mr. Family Values, is he?

I think Southern voters are also going to be a lot harder on a fast talking New Yawker. He doesn't like to be asked questions, and answers them without any real answer, and that can only go so far.

However, he's also super appealing to the racist and misogynistic voters, who exist in vast numbers in the South. There are quite a few who wouldn't care about his policies, as long as his antics give them an excuse to be hateful.

I guess if he just keeps the focus on the New Crusades against Muslims, he should do all right. (spits)

I'm a quarter inch from screaming WAKE UP SHEEPLE. He's a rich guy's rich guy. What exactly is it y'all think he's gonna do for lil ol you?

I swear quite a few of them are convinced if we have a rich guy in charge it will somehow mean the rich will rub off on them. I think the only thing that might rub off is the four bankruptcies.

If he loses, he whines that his opponent "stole" the votes. If he wins, then it's a clear sign how many love him. [sigh]

I thought many were supporting him for comedic value, but after all this time, there's a scary number who aren't. They want to be able to not only be rich like him, but be able to say whatever bigoted crap Trump is spouting without getting called on it.

I have spoken to people who full-on endorse the guy, citing his lack of BS. Uhhhh, he's the BSiest of all BSers!

A coworker is so diehard Republican she's actually leaning that way. She's said "it's time for a change!" Which is, of course, exactly what is said at every stinking election and guess what? Unless the whole political process is revamped, it ain't changing no matter what party is in office. Where I always get tripped up is the talking points about deficit from people who drum up billions of dollars to run a campaign.

Trump is nothing but BS, hot air, and a bad haircut.

"Change" is not going to happen by electing one person. And it's going to take a lot of people from outside the political as usual system to even make a dent in it.

One thing I wish would happen is a law that no one can announce their candidacy, not even hint about it, until one year before the election. Due to the 24/7 new cycle, that will never happen, but also due to the 24/7, it means we're essentially in continuous election mode.

I actually had some people think last year's election was the presidential one because there was so much hype about it on the news.

He's basically a salesman. High ticket real estate, no less. Not quite as bad as used cars, but still pretty dedicated to separating people from large quantities of $$. I don't understand the appeal at all.

The fact that he's so blatantly saying whatever the crowd in front of him wants to hear and people are uncritically applauding that without the least sign of going "hey, didn't he..." Except I guess if he sticks to all style, zero substance, there's nothing to call him on.

It's amazing that people are hanging on his every word, and can review it easily online, but they don't question it when things don't match up. Of course any media outlet that points it out is part of a conspiracy against him. And probably someone who's bleeding out their vagina or something similar.
