The subject line is the tl;dr version of the drift I get from other people and how they feel about "old fashioned" phones.
Kids, I provide support for cell phones. I live in one of the best covered metro service areas in the country. I still pay for a landline, in part bevause I know that the only thing guaranteed about your wireless service is its interruption for non-payment (go ahead and reread your contract, I'll wait;) and partly because I know all about maintenance windows and the "oops! That didn't start til midnight? My bad," shenanigans that go on around them.
I want no shenanigans involved in any 911 calls it may become necessary to make, is all.
