And the world spins on anyway

I am coping with my latest work shock (new boss, have never really agreed with anything she's said that wasn't common sense) through the following realizations:
1. Everyone knew about her and her work in the customer facing organization and she was hired anyway as a level 2 in this department. Our level 3, like, went looking for her. If she's sold him on the idea of making our group an extension of the customer facing organization, who am I to argue?
2. I've had a 23 year run at this organization working for people who weren't like her and who didn't make me potentially hate everything I say and do on their behalf and here I am including my time as a level 1 supervisor, which came close. It's high time I worked for someone who requires a lot of shutting up and doing as I'm told as the vast majority of the US workforce has to already.

They wanted a pre-trained City Secretary, what they got is someone who was looking for another job because she was about to be fired. I have that on good authority, as well as several people from her former employer flat out saying not to hire her.
My co-worker and I dream of the day we're ignored completely again.

Date: 2014-12-12 02:50 pm (UTC)We just found out that all of promotional opportunities that were supposed to open up after the end-of-year hiring freeze are now going to surplus employees from a recent acquisition. So, we get people from some other company to do jobs that our people have been preparing for over the last year.
