So, a bunch of States outlawed gay marriages.

Then a bunch of people sued because they thought that was some serious bullshit unconstitutional.

A bunch of lower circuit courts agreed.

So, a bunch of States put a hold on performing gay marriages pending an appeal to the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court has refused to hear any of the cases, likely because all of the lower Circuit Courts agreed, so....

Gay marriage can now go forward in a bunch of States that cared enough to ban it.

I HAS A GLEE!

EDITED TO ADD:
This article shows what parts of the USA belong to which Circuit Courts of Appeal.

This article explains some of the ramifications of the Supreme Court's refusal to review the cases.

Basically, the 4th, 7th and 10th Circuit court rulings on gay marriage were being appealed for the States of Indiana, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. Any other States within jurisdiction of the 4th, 7th and 10th Circuit Courts are pulled along, as the courts must remain consistent in their rulings.

I have slightly less glee, as Georgia is in the 11th Circuit.

There's something extra-special about that particular aspect of the cases. ANd while the refusal to rehear covered only 5 states, the other states in those Circuits were pulled along. SO now it's legal in 19 more states.

And I'm sorry I missed your birthday - I hope you had a happy one!

Post now updated with some links to informative articles about who's now on the hook to let same-sex marriages go forward.
