[livejournal.com profile] nialla42 wanted to know how my Inner Cold Warrior liked it. My Inner Cold Warrior was trampled into unconsciousness by my Inner Fangirl in the first four and one half minutes when Adam Baldwin demonstrated a need for lip balm.  Every time Inner Cold Warrior staggers to her feet, Baldwin blinks or smirks or walks down a corridor and WHOMP.

The Inner Cold Warrior was most pleased with how episode eight ended, though.

You know Ivanovaisms are vital part of my life, and this is a favorite one.

I kept getting thrown out a bit at first when Baldwin was in a scene. There was talk of the chain of command, and all I could think was "You know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I go get and beat you with 'til ya understand who's in ruttin' command here."

I also get a giggle when the medical doctor, Doc Rios, shows up. The actor played Jasper Sitwell in the Marvel movies and Agents of SHIELD, so when I see him I whisper "Hail Hydra."

I think I may be a fangirl. ;)

Two more episodes to go, which includes a finale returning to what's left of home. Interested to see where they go with that.

Especially since they've been renewed for a second season. If they must cling to the "ZOMG FIND VACCINE," they can waffle on whether the "human trial" on the Russian was actually a success -- I mean, one monkey surviving does not a vaccine make, right?

If they don't cling to that MacGuffin, not sure what all plot twists will ensue.

I admit to the occasional "Hail, Hydra," escaping my lips, and wondered why my brain twitched at the chain of command comment from Baldwin. I might have been too absorbed in the sheer quantity of masculine heat in the room, though.

I'm thinking for the second season it will be less about finding a vaccine and instead distributing it and then turning the focus on finding a cure for those infected.

At first, I was under the impression that infected people died pretty quickly, but in the episode where they were getting the monkeys, we saw a community of obviously infected people up and walking around. If the virus caused a rapid decline, I don't think the community would last long, even with El Toro sending over new people.

Perhaps it has to do with the particular virus mutation? Dr. Scott seems pretty convinced the scientist on the Russian ship made it much more contagious, but it might still take time for patients to show symptoms.

No telling, but I strongly suspect it served the story better to have pathetically sick people wandering around like, oh dear, Walking Dead on line two wanting their macguffins back, zombies than lying around dead.

Hmmm... the end of the last episode may indicate that even though they have a vaccine and a cure, the people left alive aren't going to be lining up to volunteer like the Nathan James Six.

That may be the next big battle. Convincing people the vaccine and cure work, in a world where there's probably been a lot of people making claims about both.

They do bring the suspense, even when binge watching. They even fixed the problem with bad guys not being able to hit the broad side of a barn...eventually. The Russians never completely got over it, though.

OK, I was feeling it from the first appearance, but I can now say I'm totally going to ship Bertrise and the comms officer. I think his last name is Mason, so shall the ship name be Berson or Masrise? ;)

Matrise? Yeah, I got a very strong feeling he wasn't just pushing for her retrieval because she might be immune. There's a scene in Ep 9 (which I just became late for work watching) that cornerstnes, cements and enshrines their relationship for my money.

He was very invested in retrieving her, and it was just bonus points that she might be immune. I guess listening to her voice asking for help for weeks was finally too much and he had to help someone crying out in the wilderness.

And that scene is the one that made me go, "Yeah, I ship it like FedEx." I hope she sticks around next season. A quick thinking and very fearless woman of color is a nice thing to have on a show. Though romance among the ruins of society is going to be a bitch. I think theirs could be so damn sweet though, lots of pitching woo from the soft spoken Mason, with the rest of the crew practically yelling, "Just kiss her already!" :)
