I don't actually board the ship to Mexico until Thursday (day after tomorrow,) so I'm spending the first part of the week avoiding spring cleaning by way of movies. So far, both are B-movies that benefit greatly from their stars.

Non-Stop with Liam Neeson & Julianne Moore, the former of whom will always be walking naked out of the loch in Rob Roy and the latter of whom will always be Frannie Hughes on As the World Turns. I went for Mr. Neeson and actually enjoyed the movie. Do you watch Downton Abbey? Rejoice, for Lady Mary is in it, too, as a flight attendant. It's quite a good suspense thing and the actors all overcame the inherent absurdity of ridiculously attractive people in peril with grace, though Michelle Dockery may never leave the Abbey behind her completely.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit was this afternoon's outing. OMG CHRIS PINE IS SO PINCHABLE. Ahem. His character is a Very Serious Rhodes Scholar, Marine and then CIA analyst, yes, AND YOU JUST WANT TO HUG HIM AND SQUEEZE HIM AND CALL HIM GEORGE. There are evil Russians, entitled!Keira Knightly and sinister!Kevin Costner and FREAKING ADORABLE!PINE.

Yes, Chris. You're the guy! Of course, it's possible I'm biased by too much nuTrek slash.

Anyway, either movie is a perfectly pleasant way to enjoy popcorn while admiring the male scenery.

Chris Pine is seriously huggable. And I loved him as baby Jack Ryan. Kevin Costner was great as sinister mentor.

I spent most of the movie thinking "behave yourself! Adorable is unlikely what he was going for!" then they had that exchange at the end about the Boy Scout on a field trip and I was DELIGHTED.

Baby Jack Ryan indeed.

LOL! I aways think "Frannie Hughes...or is it her evil twin?" when I see Julianne Moore. Even as an author of kids' books!

I know, right? You get a little hint of both sides in this movie, but then it is a suspense thing. EVERYONE IS SUSPECT.

Also, Frannie aged. After looking at the pictures of her from the 80s (in which she was admittedly approximately 12,) she's held up very well, but the signs are there.
