Why is Loki so hot?
Mar. 2nd, 2014 09:09 amNostalgia Critic gets close, but I don't think he (heh heh) nailed it:
My initial fangirl answer to the question was "um, DUH?" and realized this wasn't particularly coherent.
What hooked meon Loki were some of the same things that hooked me on Rodney McKay(, but with an added layer of bloody-minded persistence.) It's the little looks.
First scene:
Fury: Sir, please put down the spear.
Loki's Little Look: Oh! Spear! Will it work?
Spear: BLASTAMUNDO!
Loki's Little Look: Cool!
Then, in Stuttgart, he's got that guy pinned to the ancient altar by the eye:
Party: (chaos, confusion, mischief)
Loki's Little Look: Oh, well done, me
Then, outside?
Loki's Little Look: HA! They totally knelt. Go, me!
I hope to have conveyed the picture: Like Rodney, Loki projects "of course this will work," or more accurately in the God of Mischief's case, "of course I'll get away with this," then after the fact, we get the "Hey! It worked/I got away with it! Take that, universe/Thor!" without actually equating Loki's Little Looks to the Very Secret Diaries, though I suppose comparisons could be drawn.
So, did Avengers!Loki get the job done for your fangirlish heart? Or did he have you at Thor? Or does the whole hot villain thing leave you cold?
