I've been working down the street from Atlanta's Fox Theater for three years, dodging celebrity traffic when necessary, and have yet to see a show. So tonight, I'm fixing that with the South Park boys' Book of Mormon. I remember wanting to do that thing some East Coasters do and make a weekend of it when the show was on Broadway. I remember it costing over $500, most of that the tickets, and thinking "I'll wait until it comes to the Fox."

Did you know that with the right tickets, I could spend over $500 seeing the show on tour a block from my office? It struck me as a little outrageous. That's center front orchestra, probably scalper prices. I'm seeing from left orchestra, partially obstructed, for $134, all service fees included, from StubHub, where I see the same tickets have now jumped to $156. (blink) Supply and demand, I guess.

Now I have to figure out a viable ticket buying strategy if I plan to make a habit of this. Three-D movies at $16 a pop are looking way economical right now.

edited to add: Season tickets appear to be the answer.
