I left the office at 12:15pm EST today and finished hiking up the ice-covered hill I live on at 7:45pm EST.

Snow + Atlanta = freaking chaos.

I now understand why preppers are so keen on viable bug out plans. If evacuating is anything like taking seven and a half hours to travel 14 1/2 miles due to unexpected snow, we're all screwed hereabouts.

From what I'm hearing on the news and from my boss when I called in (oh, yeah; totally working from home today) I was very, very lucky just to have had a slow commute. Alabama and the Carolinas have been playing slip'n'slide all over the place.

What's really weird is normally we get the ice sheets here, and people from Houston, San Antonio, and Austin are sitting pretty. This time we just got cold, and they got the snow and ice. Though that may change by next week.

Stay safe, and remember that kitties make nice emergency warming systems. Well, that's what they're using you for, you just get some benefit too.

So far, Veronica has expressed a bloody-minded preference for sticking a chilly, wet nose into my neck and Rodney has what can only be an unnatural attraction to my muffler/scarf.

That's daytime, though. At night, Rodney does his duty by my feet and Veronica curls up on my chest. Purrfect. ;)
