So some people got all torqued up about JJ Abrams exploiting Alice Eve in a completely gratuitous onscreen costume change/lingerie shot. In an interview previously cited, Abrams told Conan O'Brien it was meant to show the essential hound dog nature of James T. Kirk.

Question: would that intent have been clearer and the perceived results less exploitative had Kirk peeked via a reflective surface without turning around and that did not give the audience a clear view?

Demonstrating his hound dog nature is unnecessary in and of itself, as it's a trait of his everyone already knows, so the peepshow wasn't about him at all but about the male audience.

True. I think I'm mostly trying to rationalize more male skin shots in the context of Abrams calling it a trade off.
