Not even fifteen minutes into the show, and I need a damned backhoe to shift the solid masses of slash coming off my TV screen.
"Unlike her, I can make it worth your while."
They could warn a girl before airing that sort of thing.

Date: 2005-11-09 03:31 am (UTC)The two parking lot scenes were like manna from the slash gods. And how much do I adore Wilson for the 'I've been lying in increasing increments ever since I told you you looked good unshaved' comeback.
Gonna get a fan and rewind the tape

Date: 2005-11-09 03:37 am (UTC)I was a little fuzzy on how the entire population of the hospital joining them for dinner was in play, though. I thought it was just going to be House and Wilson, then the boy ducklings started begging off and Cuddy and Cameron were obviously planning to go. What'd I miss?

Date: 2005-11-09 04:18 am (UTC)I hit the OMGWTFBBQDUCKIES button when she darted directly to Wilson's office to set House up, and it only went downhill from there. She scraped out at the last second when she uninvited herself from the cafeteria date. :(
But on a happier subject? I want to know the exact circumstances under which the relative attractiveness of unshaven House came up for discussion. And what the second loan was for. And Wilson's first lie, the equivalent of a $40 panhandle?
AND...let's review the plotline.
There's a patient story about toxic lying among family members paralleled by House and Wilson testing each others' limits of truthfulness.
There's a brief patient story about two young men who are not gay, just having sex, paralleled by House and Wilson...?

Date: 2005-11-09 04:58 am (UTC)Exactly. We know House pays attention to the way Wilson dresses (comments on his shoes and ties), but now they've moved on to personal grooming tips? Can't help but think it was a lie Wilson told him one morning when House was slow getting out of bed and Wilson was afraid they'd be late for work.
"And Wilson's first lie"
Sorry, House, I only like you as a friend ;-)
"There's a patient story about toxic lying among family members paralleled by House and Wilson testing each others' limits of truthfulness"
And where, exactly, does Dad House's truth-telling fit into the mix? And why is it so painful to House that he "hates" Dad? What exactly did Dad tell House, and when? Why does House feel compelled to test the limits of Wilson's friendship?
And why oh why didn't we get to see hot H/W sex on the motorcycle?!?

Date: 2005-11-09 05:11 am (UTC)I want blatant, steamy H/W porn on my tv screen. And I want it now.
Seriously, if this ep alone doesn't spawn huge amounts of H/W fic I'll eat...well, let's just say I'll be surprised 'cause I wasn't going anywhere with "eat" but straight in the gutter.

Date: 2005-11-09 09:22 pm (UTC)I'm guessing he's the type to point out every little fault, but I think the final straw was probably in relation to when he had the embolism. His dad's comment in the ep about he "didn't know how lucky you are" made me think his dad probably told him a variation of "buck up little camper, you didn't lose your leg."
Why does House feel compelled to test the limits of Wilson's friendship?
Because he can. ;) I've often wondered how these two people became friends. I think maybe House wonders about it too.
And why oh why didn't we get to see hot H/W sex on the motorcycle?!?
"Dear Buddha,
Please bring me a pony and a plastic rocket. And H/W sex on a motorcycle.
I haven't been good, but I'll be worse if you don't cough up the loot."
(The first half of the quote is from the movie Serenity.)
Where's Freud when you need him?
Date: 2005-11-10 03:40 am (UTC)I've been thinking about House and Dad all day and the explanation that works for me is that it's not that Dad always tells the truth, it's that Dad always focuses on the negative side of the truth. For example--House is all happy with his new crotch-rocket and tells his parents. Dad's response is that he saw it in the handicapped spot. Translation: Sure you got a hot bike, but you're still a cripple.
If Dad has always focused on what House hasn't/couldn't do rather than what he has done...that would hurt. And it would really hurt a kid to grow up with that kind of negativity. To make matters worse, House respects truth. That would cause an internal battle between the intellectual realization that Dad is saying nothing more than the truth, and emotional need for Dad to just lay off.
Geez, no wonder House is screwed up ;-)
"I've often wondered how these two people became friends. I think maybe House wonders about it too"
I don't have a hard time imagining them becoming friends, it's *staying* friends that puzzles me. Yeah, I think House worries about it, too. So naturally, being the emotional screw up that he is, he does the exact thing that could bring about his worst fear--losing Wilson--by pushing Wilson's limits. Also I think he just enjoys getting Wilson pissy enough to push back ;-)
Re: Where's Freud when you need him?
Date: 2005-11-10 04:29 am (UTC)Housesays that everyone lies, and in this ep you see why they do it -- protection. Sometimes to protect themselves by not admitting something they've done wrong, but it's usually to protect others.
Daddy House always tells the truth, even if it hurts. Maybe especially if it hurts. House himself is brutally honest, at least most of the time, but he doesn't go out of his way to initiate negative comments. He'll be happy to dole them out in response to stupidity though.

I can see them being "friendly" in a casual sort of way, but like you say, staying friends is another issue. Wilson seems to have known House longer than anyone else, yet they're still friends, even when he's pissed at House. It also seems like it takes a lot for House to piss Wilson off, maybe because Wilson is so used to it. House has been known to take on cases just because Wilson asked -- probably because he doesn't ask for much.

I liked it when House got in the dig about her being just like the father he dislikes. *eg*
