When Steve Jobs passed, a user at gocomics.com commented that he was really tired of all the recently deceased at the gates of Heaven every time someone famous died. It's a popular trope, and I sniffed at the comment disdainfully, because it can get some really creative use (http://newsroom.blogs.cnn.com/2009/06/26/michael-jackson-cartoon-what-do-you-think/) , but it did make me appreciate other approaches to celebrating notable lives.
