I was reminded of the character in The French Mistake in more ways than one.

Am starting to hope they retire the show after this season.

It's been officially renewed for another season. Slight changes in showrunner (people who've been with the show though), and a rumor that Castiel might become recurring again.

I wouldn't mind it, as long as it's Castiel and not overdone. I don't mind him popping in to help, but I wouldn't want him to become the (pardon) deus ex machina to save the day. There's been a rumor that he could return as Castiel, just depowered down to human form to take away the easy way out for the writers. However, he'd still have all that knowledge stuffed into his head, so he could become a living encyclopedia of lore. All rumor at this point regarding Castiel.

Well, the boys certainly aren't doing well in the lore department since Bobby became unavailable. I forget which recent ep it was that had them telling a specialist he'd be paid in the thanks of a grateful nation and the scoff that ensued.

If Castiel demoted to recurring lore master turns out to be the case, I'd need a little convincing from the writers that C would be good for it, as they did such a good job of convincing me that Bobby was still necessary even though there was an Angel around. Hoist by their own petard.
