methodological naturalism
Or, science is not anti-religion. Methodological naturalism, according to Nonsense on Stilts by Massimo Pigliucci, means science is what happens when you seek to explain things through natural means only. Involving the supernatural is certainly a line of inquiry, but it's not science.
The Wikipedia article links to Horizon -- A War on Science (BBC Documentary, 49mins), which is so far a wonderful precis of the whole Kitmiller v. Dover case that re-tried evolution. Well, it actually tried intelligent design, but you get my drift. A conservative judge appointed by the second President Bush found that not only did the Dover Board of Education's attempt to "teach the controversy" break the law, but that intelligent design was not science.
I really should have paid more attention either in school (seriously, how have I never heard of methodological naturalism?) or when that trial was going on.
