Violet check
Aug. 31st, 2011 12:59 pmSome concern surfaced over the safety of African violets housed with Jealous Cats. Below the cut is photographic evidence of what turns out to be the only one of five houseplants that have survived Jealous, Curious and/or Playful cats:

Only two of the five plants were eaten; the others simply didn't survive re-potting after playful!cats knocked over the basket they came in. I think the violets did only because they were potted separately within the basket and surrounded with cushioning greenery. They've been on that floor in that pot since April, and must taste bad because I've only ever pruned one toothmarked leaf.
The African Violets appreciate the concern expressed for their safety and are pictured here giving one of their would-be tormentors a great big sour grapes razzberry.
Also, I just realized that anyone who does not read both my livejournals has no idea what I'm on about, because most domestic picspam occurs at my
orange852 sister journal, and the earlier installment of this picspam in particular occurs here.

Date: 2011-09-02 04:38 pm (UTC)Bubba's been known to attempt stealth strikes at my feet if I attempt to walk away before he's done with me petting him. [strike] "What? I didn't do anything. That you can prove."
He literally got caught once when a claw snagged my pants and he couldn't get loose. Not good for the claw, and I tried not to laugh at the look on his face. Really, I tried. But oh, it was too funny, and I've learned the signs of impending strikes and don't turn my back on him.
