Stargate Atlantis: Aurora
Sep. 23rd, 2005 08:50 amSo, courtesy of the pothole in the information superhighway and really poor suspension on the Internet Truck, the ninth episode of SGA's season two landed on my hard drive and was viewed by yrs. truly one whole day early, w00t!
Yes, I'm easily entertained. [sheepish grin]
That said, I loved and adored and cherished this episode. I want to have this episode's babies.
1. John and Rodney. Where did they register? I understand one has up to a year following the wedding to send presents without being tacky.
"I was ready."
"It's my turn."
[The whole discussion about the Wraith]
"Go!"
They also have some really good bits interacting with other characters (see next item,) but who cares?
2. Being big ol' Ford whore, I was predisposed to seriously not like Ronon Dex and saw little if nothing in his first few appearances to change my mind. While his chemistry with Sheppard is leading to some tasty pr0n from
thisisbone, it's Ronon's chemistry with Rodney McKay that's really grabbing me now. The tweaking outside the cave in "Conversion" got a really cute follow-up outside the the pod in "Aurora." No bonding over food in this one, but we can't have everything.
3. Stalling. [moment to collapse helplessly in giggles] Teyla tries hard, but Ronon is better. Rachel Luttrell's persistant hesitance (or hesitant persistence, whichever makes more sense) was at once a brilliant stall by itself and a side-splitting send-up of genre techno-babble everywhere.
4. Caldwell is coming into his own a little more, most especially in the scenes where he's less obviously there for Weir to score points off of. Away from her, he's the commanding officer one would expect. I want to see a lot more of him interacting with John & Co. away from the city. It was delightful!
5. Last, and of course not least, a toast to the Aurora, her crew, and victory. I would like to have seen a whole lot more of them, but things were what they were. [drinks deep of diet soda]
