OMG SO TIRED OF SNOW
Jan. 12th, 2011 08:05 pmI just remembered that some of you know I live in Atlanta and apparently we've made the national news with our weather.
It hasn't been snow for about a day and a half, actually. It's now snow-shaped ice and hard as a rock, as I found out when I went to make sure my car still starts after sitting out since Sunday afternoon (it does.) Fortunately, my employer saw fit to invoke the business continuity plan and we've all been authorized to work from home.
I figured "yay! conference calls in jammies," but the cabin fever is getting pretty severe. I'm out of milk, out of cottage cheese and down to a single bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. Veronica will NOT surrender my poofy down jacket:

and Rodney has become The Demon in the Closet:

I return to work tomorrow. One hopes the roads stay relatively dry tonight.

Date: 2011-01-13 02:08 am (UTC)Wait, do they not have rock salt in Atlanta? I mean we only have ONE snow plow for the entire county and I haven't seen it but we do have rock salt.

Date: 2011-01-16 08:14 pm (UTC)Rock salt, gravel and (I am not making this up) sledgehammers. I guess we're never as prepared or staffed as we think.

Date: 2011-01-16 08:15 pm (UTC)Me, too and then some. Well, spring anyway. Summer in Atlanta is better than spring through autumn in South Florida, but comparisons could be made.

Date: 2011-01-13 03:13 am (UTC)We've still got large patches of snow (and ice disguised as snow) here left over from Sunday's snow. Roads are mostly clear, but some shady spots are still dangerous.
I just hope it doesn't live up to the Texas old wives' tale that if snow's on the ground for three days, it's just waiting for more.

Date: 2011-01-16 08:17 pm (UTC)I'm trying to un-remember the fact that worst weather I've seen in Atlanta has usually been in late January or early- to mid-February.
