After how they totally overreacted to the slash element on SG-1, I don't think we're completely paranoid. I think they can handle it in the "OMG, that's so gay!" teenage humor sort of way, but showing two men actually caring for each other is a taboo. Carson has an exemption of sorts as a doctor, but that's about it.
