Giving blood

Is there a way to get off of the Red Cross’s poop list? I have some sort of permanent denial on account of spending time in Spain in 1983 (MAD COW DISEASE O NOES) but other blood banks will take me because the rules changed about who gets denied. (If you’re curious: students = okay, military or their dependents = O NOES MAD COW RISK which makes me ask what on Earth we’re feeding our military overseas, but I digress;) and I’d rather do the blood drive here because the Red Cross is cool about coming to get my blood instead of making me drive all over looking for the blood bank.
