So I was on snopes.com, debunking a cousin's Facebook post, when I saw a grotesque image as part of the article.

Ever since, my brain has been going "ick! That was gross! Here, look at it again! Wasn't that awful?"

Suggestions for making my brain effing STOP already?

To avoid housework, I've been googling nonsense most of the morning. DON'T JUDGE ME.

You that auto-complete thing Google does? Where as you type "why isn't the USA spending on infrastructure?" it pops up frequent searches as you laboriously one-finger type into your tablet?

"Why isn't the USA..." auto-completed with "...in the Bible?"

Mind. BLOWN.

Treason

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

My conclusion: there be treason in progress because cooperation in suborning a national election to advance the political and economic interests of a foreign power sounds like "adhering to" or at least "providing aid," right?

Wrong, according to internet sources, not all of which are to the right. The United States is not in a state of war with the Russian Federation, so Russia is not technically an enemy of America.

First: I sense an area of cooperation between Freedom Caucus Republicans and pretty much any congress critter who supports Russian sanctions if a formal declaration of war is all that stands between the White House and treason charges, because Russia is sure as hell Not Our Friend.

Second: new round of research on how many Americans have been hung out to dry for treason during the Cold War, which was not any kind of formally declared affair.

I am not making this up.

I follow some "Imagine..." prompt blogs on tumblr and recently, someone proposed an AU where either Steve Rogers or Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes discover that his/their boyfriend Tony Stark is in the in the early stages of Alzheimer's.

I'm not just in the nopeNopeNOPE camp, I'm horrified that someone even thought that was promptable, which engenders a small amount of guilt, quickly squashed because Alzheimer's. So, every time I saw a reply to that post, I scooted right past it because nopeNopeNOPE.

Then I saw a post where two people the prompter had been tagging asked not to be tagged and prompter became huffy because s/he wasn't forcing anyone to participate. S/he went to the extent of making a separate post wondering when Marvel fandom got so touchy? S/he wasn't ever going to prompt anyone for anything again.

My response in general:
1. This individual doesn't know enough about Alzheimer's to know better than to prompt it.
2. This individual does know enough about Alzheimer's to know better and prompted it anyway because s/he is a horrible human being.

My response in particular:
HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO TONY?

So, one my wonder why I think that with all the various disease, disability and deathfic going on out there, why is Alzheimer's extra special horrifying?

Let me tell you more than you might want to know )

I know there are bittersweet and downright dark fic prompts out there. The enthusiasm that met this one, though, set me back on my heels.

Yes, I will judge this prompt very harshly.
